2016 Panigyri Review
On September 25th, 71 Kytherians gathered with friends at the Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church in Castro Valley for our annual Panigyri of the Myrtidiotissa.
Father Niko Bekris celebrated the Divine Liturgy, offered our Artoklasia blessing, and joined us for lunch.
Tikey Zes led the attendees in the Lord’s Prayer and then sang the Kytherian hymn in English.
Katherine Stathis then offered opening remarks followed by a delicious lunch prepared by Yannis Varvelas.
Father Niko was surprised to be named our
2016 Honorary Kytherian
Members memorialized those who passed away this past year by offering a few words in their memory.
Elaine Kasimatis, daughter of Amandus Kasimatis, spoke a few words about her late father who had been a long time supporter of the KSOCA. She hopes to continue his tradition of supporting our organization.
Katherine announced our newly appointed
Treasurer, Megan Pearse.
We are excited to have Megan on board!
This year’s scholarship recipient, Emily Nickolas, was announced by Vice President, Elaine Moulos. Unfortunately due to a sudden illness, Emily was unable to attend the luncheon. Emily’s parents, Jennifer & Sam Nickolas accepted the award in her absence.
